We were overjoyed to find these stunning French posters. Aged by time but nevertheless in good condition these rare and captivating images of regions, cities and town are truly atmospheric. The artist photographer Jean Roubier was born in Vézelay in 1896. At the age of 34, he set up a portrait studio and began as a photographer / illustrator for European publishers specialising in art books. After the war he continued to work with the French government as part of their tourism campaigns covering the whole of France. The images are in powerful black and white and have little or no signs of life which gives them an air of serene tranquility. They are about 100cm x 60 cm.
